The Student Affairs team supports and encourages students through each stage of their progress towards academic success, promotes healthy approaches to study and extracurricular life, and facilitates exploration and choice of careers.
The office maintains an open door policy for students with concerns, issues or questions.
We are involved with...
- Orientation of new students through to planning graduation celebrations
- Addressing problems of academic difficulty, or personal issues affecting healthy functioning
- Individual counseling, or referral to appropriate resources to deal with these problems
- Assisting with career planning in a graduated way , matched to time points in career selection
- Providing a secure, confidential service to preempt escalation of difficulties.
When should I contact Student Affairs?
Students should contact the office if suffering from any problems that interfere with studies or well being. Problems that are small or that appear to be insignificant can grow to become troubling and disruptive. Satisfactory solutions can often be found in the early stages and students are encouraged to call early. The Student Affairs Office maintains an "arm's length" relationship with the academic offices and provides a supportive and confidential service to students. Information is not shared without the students' permission.
